Thank you for your interest to support the STARBASE Wisconsin program with Guest Speakers from your organization.
Intent: The guest speaker provides 30 minutes of an overview about their STEM job. 30 minutes per classroom
Ideal Elements of the Guest Speaker Presentation: Speakers may show a video which shows active work on the job or a digital presentation (PowerPoint) about the speaker’s work experience.
A speaker may also bring examples of work that show tools, a finished product, etc. I have an example of digital presentation if someone asks.
An engaging and informative presentation will include using the speaker’s education/experience, how he/she gained an interest in the service industry, and their career goals for the future.
Speakers are dressed in their work uniform.
The speaker may bring swag or promotional items to hand out or award the class.
Frequency: Every 5 weeks or Fridays when a school attends for the entire week.
Number of Speakers Sought: Four speakers every five weeks if the same person stayed for 1.5 hours at STARBASE Wisconsin.
Special Note: Near the end of the school year or some holiday breaks, sometimes a school comes for an entire week. When schools come for a full week, we need a speaker on Fridays only.
Time Commitment: 3 hours (includes drive time) for one guest speaker for the day.

Guest Speakers is scheduled on the last day of a school’s visit. Below are dates for this school year.
October 24, 25, 26, and 27
December – 4, 5, 6, 7
January – 16, 17, 18, and 19
February – 20, 21, 22, and 23
April – 1, 2, 3, and 4
May 6, 7, 8, 9, 17, and 24
June 3
June and July to be determined. We do have classes in the summer.
September We would need speakers as early as mid-September since we work with schools that begin in mid-August. Guest Speakers are mandatory again.
