65 young men attended the Women in Aviation international holiday of Girls in Aviation Day at the General Mitchell International airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 28, 2024. Girls ranging from 12-18 years old attended this free outreach event where they are able to tour the Air Traffic Control tower and Terminal Radar Approach Control Facilities, visit the flight gallery and operations of the airport, fly simulators, and tour a new Alaska airplane.
They also got to speak with representatives from Civil Air Patrol and Air Wisconsin Airlines. DoD STARBASE Wisconsin Academy staff assisted pilots from the local Women In Aviation chapter to provide girls with an opportunity to fly a Cessna Skyhawk airplane in the sky above Southeastern Wisconsin.
Flight simulators were provided by DoD STARBASE Wisconsin Academy of the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs.
Some attendees were returning from years prior and others first time attendees!
