The STARBASE Wisconsin program welcomes the support of Individuals or organizations interested in STEM education! Our program serves elementary students in the city of Milwaukee at no cost. Organizations interested in sponsoring elements of our program should contact the Director for more information.
Individuals with careers in STEM fields are also welcome to volunteer with our program, either as mentors or guest speakers. Please note mentors will be required to complete a background check.
US Army Reserve Support
STARBASE Wisconsin is grateful for the in-kind support of the US Army Reserve Center at West Silver Spring Drive. The Center graciously shares its facilities with the community by allowing students to access the grounds for STARBASE activities. Members of the US Army Reserve have volunteered in classrooms and assisted in preparing Building 301 for renovation. Thank you!
WI National Guard Support
STARBASE Wisconsin is proudly sponsored by the Wisconsin Air National Guard. Members of the WI-ANG and the 128th Air Refueling Wing provide countless hours of in-kind service in support of our mission, as well as volunteer in our classes as STEM career speakers.
Guest Speakers
STARBASE Wisconsin welcomes the expertise of STEM professionals with an interest in sharing their experiences with young people. Please contact us to schedule a visit. Guest speakers will spend 30-45 minutes introducing themselves, describing their job, why they chose it, and some interesting uses of math and science. Please plan to do a demonstration of a product, an experiment, or another type of visual to expand students’ understanding of how STEM applies in your workplace. This will be followed by a discussion of what students need to do to prepare to be a professional in your field. Thank you!
