Milwaukee, Wis. — On October 5th, young women participated in the International Girls in Aviation program providing them with an introduction to aviation careers to include airport operations, air traffic control, airline operations and the science of flight.
Milwaukee, Wis. In August, STARBASE Wisconsin Staff taught aviation education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s (UW-M) College for Kids program. Kids in college are encouraged to participate in exciting summertime, hands-on learning experiences in math, science, fine arts, and humanities. Twelve middle school age students participated in the Science of Aviation course. This course introduced students to the aerodynamics of flight, aviation terminology, flight planning and flight simulation and identifying weather conditions from cloud patterns.
Milwaukee, Wis. — On July 20th, Discovery World celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing with hands-on activities, displays, and educational experiences for the public to enjoy.
Milwaukee, Wis.— The Experimental Aviation Association’s (EAA) Annual Convention and Fly-In in Oshkosh, Wisconsin has grown to be the largest annual fly-in in the world. In 2019, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh welcomed more than 642,000 people from 93 nations, along with more than 10,000 aircraft. STARBASE Wisconsin attended the 2019 Fly-In to conduct educational outreach and science teacher training.
The Aviation Careers Education (ACE) program is a summer employment and learning opportunity for high school students in Milwaukee Public Schools. ACE promotes aviation and aerospace education and provides students experiences in aviation-related jobs. It is the result of partnerships between industry, high schools and government.  The Department of Defense’s (DoD) STARBASE Wisconsin Academy is a part of the Milwaukee ACE Advisory Committee.  This program is coordinated by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Aeronautics.
STARBASE Wisconsin Educators joined Technology Education Teachers from the Wisconsin Technology Education Association (WTEA) to tour Oshkosh Corporation’s Oshkosh Defense and Pierce Manufacturing plants.
May 2019 marks the Senior Year of High School for STARBASE Wisconsin’s first graduating class. Fifth grade students from Milwaukee Public School’s (MPS) Westside Academy attended the Wisconsin program seven years ago when it opened in 2012.
Approximately, 200 Rocket Scientists from Illinois, New York, and Wisconsin came to Sheboygan's Blue Harbor Resort on May 10th and 11th to launch rockets and test their original science experiments. These scientists were between 11 to 19 years old. STARBASE Wisconsin Academy is one of several local organizations that support the Rockets for Schools program.
STARBASE Wisconsin offered an aviation outreach education program to youth enrolled in the Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) Three Harbors Council. STARBASE staff provided 2 programs to Cub Scouts and Scouts since the New Year.
Eighty-two Milwaukee fifth and sixth grade youth graduated from STARBASE Wisconsin’s Summer Science and Engineering Academy.
