The Aviation Careers Education (ACE) program is a summer employment and learning opportunity for high school students in Milwaukee Public Schools. ACE promotes aviation and aerospace education and provides students experiences in aviation-related jobs. It is the result of partnerships between industry, high schools and government. The Department of Defense’s (DoD) STARBASE Wisconsin Academy is a part of the Milwaukee ACE Advisory Committee. This program is coordinated by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Aeronautics.
STARBASE Wisconsin Educators joined Technology Education Teachers from the Wisconsin Technology Education Association (WTEA) to tour Oshkosh Corporation’s Oshkosh Defense and Pierce Manufacturing plants.
May 2019 marks the Senior Year of High School for STARBASE Wisconsin’s first graduating class. Fifth grade students from Milwaukee Public School’s (MPS) Westside Academy attended the Wisconsin program seven years ago when it opened in 2012.
Approximately, 200 Rocket Scientists from Illinois, New York, and Wisconsin came to Sheboygan's Blue Harbor Resort on May 10th and 11th to launch rockets and test their original science experiments. These scientists were between 11 to 19 years old. STARBASE Wisconsin Academy is one of several local organizations that support the Rockets for Schools program.
STARBASE Wisconsin offered an aviation outreach education program to youth enrolled in the Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) Three Harbors Council. STARBASE staff provided 2 programs to Cub Scouts and Scouts since the New Year.
Eighty-two Milwaukee fifth and sixth grade youth graduated from STARBASE Wisconsin’s Summer Science and Engineering Academy.
This year marks a six-year partnership with the Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD) Engine No. 8. serving as career guest speakers for the STARBASE Wisconsin Program.
On March 10th, the Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) Three Harbors Council arrived at Milwaukee County’s Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport for Scouts to earn their Aviation Merit Badge.
On March 7th, STARBASE Wisconsin was recognized with Special Recognition Award from the Wisconsin Technology and Engineering Education Association “For Contributions and Service to Technology Education.”

The Metropolitan Milwaukee Alliance of Black School Educators’ (MMABSE) Community Agency of the Year Service Award is presented annually to a community organization for outstanding contributions in the area of service. The award honors an organization that has demonstrated a major commitment to addressing community needs through time, actions, talents, and dedication. The commitment is demonstrated through the development of exceptional programs that support youth and their families.

The STARBASE Wisconsin Academy received MMABSE's 2017 Community Agency of the Year Service Award on Saturday, November 18th at a special ceremony. They were nominated by Marvin E. Pratt Elementary School based on their commitment to students and the following accomplishments:
Annually, their 3 person staff partners with 35 Milwaukee Public Schools to provide a 25 hour, hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math experience for students of which 63% of the student population are youth of African descent.
STARBASE WI supports families by developing afterschool programs and teaches at outreach programs during out-of-school hours that youth attend with their parents or siblings like the Boy Scout of America’s STEM Merit Badge Sessions and 128th Air Refueling Wing’s military family day called the Wingman Day.
STARBASE began a STARBASE 2.0 Aviators Club at Congress Year Round Elementary School with 10 middle school youth. The program is designed to immerse youth in the world of aviation through 30 hours of instruction by providing an abbreviated Private Pilot Ground School with Flight Performance Training using Flight Simulators.
A non-profit entity for STARBASE Wisconsin was established in part to financially support the Aviators Club’s enrichment field trips and ease any financial obligation incurred by their families. The financial support will allow Aviators to attend a future overnight experience at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Airventure Museum in Oshkosh and other EAA events.
